As a younger mom fighting cancer it’s always a mix of emotions when a big event happens. Today is the first day of school for our little man, and it’s sort of a milestone because it’s 1st grade. I know everyone see Kindergarten as a big step but having half-day kindergarten wasn’t as big of a deal to me as a full day of school in 1st grade. It’s been a mix of emotions already this morning.
- It was awesome being able to walk him to school this morning…
- It was great watching him walk into the building without tears and without being super clingy…
- It was slightly freeing to walk back home without him (we’ve had quite a busy summer together)…
- It’s nice having some quiet time this morning to drink coffee and just relax…
- I’m so glad I was here to share today with him and my husband…
Then the realities of things slowly sink in.
- I hope I’m able to walk him daily until it’s too cold to walk…
- I hope this isn’t the last first day of school I experience…
- I can’t wait to experience this year with him, I hope nothing slows me down or gets in the way…
And so the daily battle and the roller coaster ride continues.
