Six

Six months ago I found out I won the lottery I wasn’t even aware I was playing.

Six letters in the word we all dread hearing – CANCER

January 16, 2017 will forever be the day our lives changed.  July 16, 2017 marks the first stretch of 6 months we’ve been on this journey and the day I decided to begin my own personal blog about this journey.

The bonus prize in this lottery was my cancer (which is currently in my lungs) is ALK+ which is rare yet highly researched.

I’m here today, feeling pretty good overall thanks to the amazing first line of drugs I am on.  I can’t be cured (which fucking sucks) but at least we have hope these drugs will work for many years to come.

I’ve found an amazing group of people (online and around the world) who won this same lottery and they are sharing news daily about trials and advances in the treatment of this strand of lung cancer.

I’m not sure how often I will blog but there are so many out there who share their journey and I felt it was time I started sharing mine.  I will share more back story in a post to come, I just felt today was a good milestone to mark the beginning of this blog.
